Coming up LIVE on 2/21/22 at 9am pst - FIXED. How to Perfect the Fine Art of Problem Solving By Amy Herman

Things go wrong all the time. To succeed in the world—personally and professionally—requires critical skills that allow us to find solutions. Author Amy Herman joins KUCI's Janeane Bernstein to talk about her new book, FIXED - How to Perfect the Fine Art of Problem Solving.

Amy Herman, founder of The Art of Perception®, an innovative and proven program, has developed a unique approach to problem solving that uses works of art to revitalize our minds and refine our creative thinking. She’s trained thousands of people around the world in organizations and industries from the military and government to medicine, finance, and education, technology, security, intelligence, and more.

Now for the first time in FIXED. How to Perfect the Fine Art of Problem Solving (Harper Wave), Herman shares her successful methodology that refreshes and rejuvenates essential critical thinking skills to help readers resolve problems, difficulties, and challenges. What truly sets this book apart, however, is the author’s extensive use of art—paintings, sculpture, mixed media, and photography—and the artistic process to define a problem-solving framework.

By learning to look at works of art more astutely, readers can hone their powers of perception and discover deep-seated truths that can obstruct clear-thinking and optimal decision-making. Identifying such impediments is the first step to overcoming them and bringing new, creative solutions to the fore. Herman’s approach doesn’t require an art degree—only a willingness to open our eyes and our minds.

Amy E. Herman is the founder and president of The Art of Perception, Inc., a New York-based organization that conducts professional development courses for leaders globally including at the FBI, the Department of Defense, Doctors Without Borders, and NATO. For more than 10 years, Herman was the Head of Education at The Frick Collection, where she oversaw the museum’s educational collaborations and community initiatives. She was also the Director of Educational Development at Thirteen/WNET, the educational public television station serving New York and New Jersey.

An art historian and attorney, Herman holds a BA from Lafayette College, a JD from the National Law Center at George Washington University, and an MA in Art History from Hunter College. Herman channeled her dual degrees in art and law to create the successful Art of Perception program and now trains thousands of professionals from Navy SEALS to trauma nurses. Herman is a world-renowned speaker who frequently presents at national and international conferences. She has been featured on the CBS Evening News, the BBC, NPR, and in countless print publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Telegraph, New York Daily News, Smithsonian Magazine, and Harvard Business Review.
