Michael D. Cohen is a GEMINI (Canadian Emmy) and ACTRA-nominated actor and writer with an extensive list of credits in film and television. A native of Canada, he grew up in Winnipeg and eventually moved to Vancouver with his family where he spent his formative years. He is currently a series regular on Nickelodeon’s hit sitcom, Henry Danger playing “Schwoz,” a genius of indiscernible foreign nationality. The series won the Kids’ Choice Award for best show in 2017 and was nominated again in 2018 and 2019. Other television credits include the ABC hit series, Modern Family and The Real O’Neals, CBS’ 2 Broke Girls, FOX’s The Mindy Project, TBS’ Angie Tribeca, NBC’s Powerless, Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally and The Wizards of Waverly Place and many others.
Recent film credits include the Coen Brothers comedy Suburbicon directed by George Clooney, the Oscar-nominated feature Whiplash, the Canadian Screen Award-nominated film It Was You Charlie, for which he was nominated for an ACTRA Award for Outstanding Lead Performance and An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn starring Emile Hirsch and Craig Robinson, among others. He also has numerous commercial and animation voiceover credits, including Disney’s Vampirina, It’s a Small World and JoJo’s Circus.
Michael has done dozens of commercial campaigns including the currently running Wendy’s “Biggie Bag” campaign and Nespresso with George Clooney. Other commercials include Mini Starburst, FedEx, Capital One, Boston Market, Honda with Patrick Warburton, and the Super Bowl Hulu Plus campaign with Will Arnett.
As a teacher and coach, Michael served as Co-Chair of the SAG-AFTRA Hollywood Conservatory at the American Film Institute and member of the SAG-AFTRA National Conservatory Committee. He is a faculty lecturer for the University of Texas at Austin in Hollywood where he helped develop an immersion program for the Department of Theatre and Dance. In addition to teaching their Business of Acting and Advanced On-Camera Acting classes, he also directed two highly successful industry showcases.
Michael is a huge Carol Burnett fan and counts her as one of the main influences in his professional life having spent much of his youth studying her show. When not working, he enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, paddle boarding, scootering on his 125 cc Genuine Motor Scooters Buddy, and anything that involves wind.
