The producers of the critically-acclaimed Damaged Furniture are launching a $150,000 Kickstarter Campaign to bring the production and original cast from L.A. to Broadway.

Donors will be able to enjoy the west coast production from the comforts of home (along with many other perks), be instrumental in bringing the cast and creative team to New York… And most importantly, become an integral part of the oh-solovable but ever-so-dysfunctional, Damaged Furniture family!

Howard Skora (Playwright/Producer)
Shora is the 1st place winner of the 5th Annual Scriptapalooza Screenwriting Competition. Skora beat out 3000 other screenplays with his dark comedy-thriller Reckless Endangerment and used the $10,000 prize money to complete NICK NAME AND THE NORMALS, his first independent feature-length documentary which premiered in London at The National Film Theatre and can be seen on Netflix. Skora studied Screenwriting at UCLA Extension where he received the prestigious Diane Thomas Screenwriting Award for his screenplay, THE TRAINER.

He then wrote THE UNKNOWN CYCLIST which premiered at the Seattle Film Festival and was purchased as a Starz Original Feature and was honored with a nomination for Outstanding Cable TV movie at the 11th Annual GLADD Media Awards as well as winning The SHINE award for best entertainment special..  Skora developed his comedy skills first at The Second City in Chicago and then later as the backup comic at Catch a Rising Star in NYC. Skora’s first play, MISERABLE WITH AN OCEAN VIEW, directed by Jim Fall, had its world premiere on June 6th, 2015 at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California.  It ran for 5 sold-out months thanks to multiple 5-star reviews which placed it as the top-rated original comedy in Los Angeles.  The reviews called Skora “..brilliant” and the play “clever… with hilarious one-liners ”, “laugh-out loud funny” and “…equally masterful to AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY.  Skora is able to find absurdity and humor in some of the most shocking of situations”.

The production is currently looking for other runs in New York, San Francisco and London.  Skora develops most of his writing in The Actor’s Gym at The WhiteFire Theatre, run by Bobby Moresco (Academy-Award winner for “Crash”).  His second play, DAMAGED FURNITURE, directed by Jim Fall, had it’s world premiere on March 24th, 2018 at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California.  It ran for 6 sold-out months thanks to multiple 5-star reviews which placed it as the top-rated original comedy in Los Angeles on Better-Lemons for it’s entire run with a 100% sweet critic rating.  Skora and the cast are now looking forward to a run in NYC for 2019.

“What makes the play a big success is its blatant, over-thetop, outrageous comedy that will not quit.  The acting from the five-member ensemble is nothing short of brilliant…” – Don Grigware, Broadway World
